Pete P. Peters and a Labor Day Trip to Rome

Well, not really.  I did, however, change my Vegas reservations from MGM Grand to Caesars for my trip at the end of August.  I love the MGM Grand.  Really, I do.  I particularly love the lounges/bars, which in addition to delightful beverages, present a wide array of bar-top "devils game," including ten-handed VP.  My last trip there -- 5 days over Memorial Day (which, if you follow this blog, you'll recall nearly killed me) -- I barely ever even left the joint.

Nevertheless, I find myself itching for a change.  The last time I stayed at Caesars was about 5 years ago.  I was there with a friend. I got us 6 nights fully comped at the Augustus Tower.  Problem was, my friend doesn't gamboooool much.  And, as a result, I barely gambooooled that trip.  And, Gary Loveman is nothing if not vindictive.  In retribution, my rates at Caesars Palace immediately went from "freerolling" to like $215 or so on, like, a frigg'n Wednesday night (and $300-plus on weekends).  Needless to say, I've been residing elsewhere on my Vegas trips.

But, perhaps Gary is feeling more charitable lately.  Or, perhaps its the fact that I reached 15,000 tier points for Diamond in May this year.  Whatever the cause, I find myself back in Caesars' good graces.

And, accordingly, I'm planning a triumphant return.  While I'll miss the MGM Grand, I think Caesars is a solid alternative.  The pools are some of the best on the strip.  The rooms (Roman-Helmut Tower aside) are pretty nice as well.  Plenty of restaurants, including some in the Forum Shops.  And, the location is, in my opinion, far better than MGM, particularly given my recent love of the Linq.

While the poker scene was somewhat of a concern, my fears were assuaged by the recent review from Rob-The-Poker-God (and, no worries, I'm use to the dreaded $2 chip from playing at Maryland Live!).

Indeed, looks like P3 will be heading to "Rome" in a few short weeks.

  3. "Rob the Poker God" huh? I like that. Very nice.

It ALMOST makes me feel guilty for my new blog post that I'm about to post. I did say ALMOST. Heh Heh.

My least favorite thing about Caesars (other than the $2 chip) is the parking situation. That whole area is a bitch to park these days. However, since you might not have a car, that probably won't be a concern.

When you're tired of looking at Roman slave girls, head on down to MGM and show me which machines to play.

    3. Hey......I don't get to Vegas without passing thru Jean first.

I've been known to stop there and take a whiz or two. TMI?

    4. Jean,Nevada . a good place to whiz. who knew??? would u place it in your top 10 places to piss???????????

    5. Ironically, my major issue with Caesars is the lack of dem good machines . . . Although I haven't played there much since my informal ban 5 years ago, it always seemed they were light on VP compared to other places, like Flamingo which has probably 10 hundred hand machines . . .

    6. @anger....Do you think that would make a good blog post for me? "My favorite places to piss on the road from L.A. to Vegas." Jean would make the top ten because, fortunately I don't need to stop 10 times on the trip (so far that is).

@PPP--I'm sure you can find some good machines in the vicinity, I assume the will welcome you back to Caesars by adding some of your favorite machines. They're very customer service oriented that way.

    1. Yeah, my Rays 12-1 is dead . . . Oh well. Pretty crazy day. Hard for me not to rot for BB. He must have had a good 4 or 5 hours before the Price news came down. Crazy. We'll see if Detroit has enough arms in the Pen. Although, come playoffs, they not NEED a pen. Must be nice to have Porcello or Sanchez as a FOURTH option . . .

Love being a Mets fan on days like yesterday

PPP should come visit while hes in san francisco next month, and take me out somewhere other than the casino which would be good for me after playing a little poker. also he needs to check out the VBJ in delaware, i hear the racinos have it. (not the main poker rooms of delaware park and dover downs, but the ones at the racetracks instead). rules, shuffle points etc. and i dont know why Rob dont hang out and play poker with me. we think alike on everything, the button straddle position, the $2 chips, etc.
